You Are Not Enough. But Thank God, Because...

Jesus came for the unrighteous, not the righteous.

There were a bunch of people who thought their good works were enough (Rom. 10:3).  They didn't want Jesus.  In fact, his assertion that they did need Him made them so angry, they wanted to kill Him.

Jesus told them, "I didn't come for the righteous (meaning anyone who thinks they are righteous; i.e., "self-righteous"), I came for the unrighteous. (Luke 5:32; Matt 9:13)

He came for those who knew that nothing they brought to the altar would ever be enough to be eternally right with God.

Then He died for them and made them enough forever (2 Corinthians 5:21)

"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

He continues to hold that status secure.  No one and nothing can ever remove it (Romans 8:33-34).

"33Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us."

His righteousness is not some namby-pamby snake oil that has its 15 minutes of fame and then goes the way of the dodo-bird.  It's the most powerful thing in the universe for all time.  And that is now yours because of what He did.  You were redeemed by the most powerful thing in the universe and now you are identified with it...by it.  You are covered in His Righteousness and His Righteousness is and always will be infinitely enough.  It is not arrogant to" Love mercy, do justly, and walk humbly with your God" (i.e., He wants you!) (Micah 6:8).  It is not shameful to "approach His throne of Grace with confidence" (Hebrews 4:16).   It is your "re-birth" right.

That is your Truth.  That is your Purpose.  That is your Identity.  You are Image Born.

With you for His glory,
